[Resolved] Do I need a top layer of mulch?

    after a couple of wonderful runs with the XLs, I am wondering if I should be putting a layer of mulch on top. Is it normal for the top 4 to five inches to stay dry? If mulch can help , what do you recommend? perlite? I was using sohum living soil for the base and hydroton at the bottom. thanks.

    Hi There, yes it is normal for this area to become dry/arid as this area is where the evaporated salts collet, its not necessary to add a mulch to the top but my all means try it to see if it helps at all.
