In reply to: Possible to avoid coco entirely for hydro?
December 1, 2019 at 5:39 am #263JoshKeymasterLecca mixed with vermiculite will work well, as will Lecca and perlite….. please ensure that the Lecca is pH stable, if they are completely round then I would suspect they will need stabilising. Therefore soak the Lecca in pH 5.5 for at least 24 hours first the longer the better, you can also add a 1/4 strength feed too so that the Lecca soaks up the feed while stabilising, once soaked wash off with pH 5.8 water. Lecca is now ready for use…simply mix with perlite or vermiculite or both.. pH in reservoir 5.6-5.8
JoshKeymasterI would advise that just GH 3 part is necessary, it is one of the cleanest liquid fertilisers around. No need to add the Cal Mag, liquid mycorrhizae, your just asking for trouble. Keep it simple and just use GH 3 Part.

In reply to: For Autopot, when using Sohum Living Soils, is perlite used. What ratio, if so?
September 8, 2019 at 5:33 pm #239JoshKeymasterThere is no need to add additional perlite, Sohum soil also needs to be used in a pot with a minimum size of 20ltr or the volume will not be great enough to supply the food for the duration of the plants life.
JoshKeymasterIf you are using the click fit filter for the FlexiTank then the connection should be water tight….. if not remove the collar….. dip the exposed pipe into hot water and push onto the tap.
In reply to: Feeding Schedule
September 2, 2019 at 1:01 pm #232JoshKeymasterSome customers feed with a full reservoir of feed, let it run to a 1/3 full then top up with pH balanced water and feed this for 24-48 hours then re-fill with water and add the fertiliser and then repeat the process. Other growers just feed all the time. Always remember to use your flush taps at the end of you lines to remove any sediment in the pipe work, this should also be carried out once a week minimum, if the water is poor then more often as required

August 28, 2019 at 10:12 am #230JoshKeymasterHi There,
We haven’t heard anything back from you yet so we will try and take you through some troubleshooting issues.
Please turn off the system and perform the following:
Remove the AQUAvalve in question and the nut on the nozzle, drop the bottom float and inspect the area where the water enters, ensure the silicon is clean and the area around it. If need be remove the silicon in the bottom float and clean, then replace.
Now once all is clean and put back together hole the AQUAvalve upside down in your hand and blow through the nozzle inlet without the collar being in place….. when you blow through no air should be escaping past the silicon…… if this happens the AQUAvalve will function correctly….. If you hear air ensure the silicon is firmly pushed into the recess.
Always ensure no debris is floating around the AQUAvalve such as perlite and also ensure it is firmly pushed onto the Tee section in the try.

August 9, 2019 at 4:16 pm #220JoshKeymasterIf there is no feed in your media…. Use feed levels at half strength …. pH coco in water at 5.6 or rockwool
In reply to: Fabric pots and pebbles
August 8, 2019 at 4:29 pm #217JoshKeymasterHi Iamriff….. We supply the SmartPot systems with fabric pots, please visit the website to see the fabric SmartPots, as AutoPot is bottom fed there is no need to drip from the top of the pot as this will over water the plants.
